Eligibility
The Carlsberg Hua Zong Education Fund
(CEF) Study Loan is open to all Malaysian citizens who are
enrolled in local or foreign institutions of higher learning
hold certificates in UEC, SPM or STPM; Diplomas; and/or any
higher certificates; and are ambitious, enthusiastic and
responsible.

Date of Application
- The loan application form is
available in May each year.
- Applications can be made between
May and June .
- The exact deadline will be
determined by the Fund Management Committee after studying
the commencement dates of different institutions of higher
learning. The Committee will publish the exact deadline and
other details on the CEF website and in the major press
nationwide.

Application Procedure
- Applicants are required to
submit the following documents to The Federation of
Chinese Associations, Malaysia before the application
deadline:
| - Three copies of the completed
loan application form (photocopies are

| - Recent passport-size

| - Academic transcripts
(photocopies certified by the relevant institution) |
| - Certificates of Award or
Achievement (photocopies) |
| - Letter of Admission or
Certificate of Enrolment from the institution of
higher learning (photocopy certified by
the relevant institution) |
| - ICs of two guarantors
(photocopies) |
| - Proofs of income of two
guarantors, e.g. pay slip, income tax Form J or
employment letter (photocopies)

- The loan application form can be
downloaded here. Alternatively, applicants
may visit or write The Federation of
Chinese Associations, Malaysia to request for an
application form (for write-in requests, please attach a
self-addressed, stamped envelope).
- We shall not process
application forms that are incomplete or received after the
application deadline.

| Selection |

Selection Criteria
The CEF Management Committee will
select the loan beneficiary based on the following
criteria:
- Academic performance.
- Performance in extra-curricular
activitie.
- Family financial
circumstances.
- The institution and the course
undertaken.
The decision of the Fund Management
Committee is final. |

Loan Amount and Number of
Beneficiaries
- Every beneficiary will receive an interest-free loan of RM5,000 in each academic year for the official duration of the course.
- The Fund Management Committee will determine the number
of beneficiaries for each year based on the fund’s annual
financial status.

| Loan Release & Signing |

Notification
Successful applicants will be notified via mail and telephone within one-and-a-half months from the application deadline, and will be invited to attend the loan-contract signing and award ceremony. Unsuccessful applicants will not be notified.

Signing of Loan
Contract
- Loan beneficiaries are required to sign a contract with
the CEF. The beneficiaries must fulfill their
responsibilities and obligations as stated in the contract
throughout the loan period, and make loan repayments in
accordance with the contract after graduation.
- Every loan beneficiary must have two guarantors, the
first one being the beneficiary’s parent or guardian. Both
guarantors must be Malaysian citizens aged 21 and above.
- Both guarantors are required to sign a contract with the
CEF. The guarantors are obliged to make repayments on behalf
of the beneficiary in the case of the beneficiary’s failure
to make loan repayments after graduation.

Loan Release
- Every beneficiary must open a savings account with a
designated bank. The Fund Management Committee will deposit
the loan amount into the beneficiary’s bank account
directly.
- The Fund Management Committee will release the loan on a
yearly basis upon commencement of the course.
